The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals have clinched playoff spots. Some combination of the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings should fill out three of the remaining four spots. The NFC playoff field will be complete with whatever team crawls out of the NFC East. The 4-9 Dallas Cowboys can win the NFC East or earn the top pick in the draft. The 6-7 NFC teams still have a shot but a lot of things have to break their way.
The New England Patriots is the only AFC team to have clinched a playoff spot. The Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals, even with quarterback Andy Dalton's thumb injury, are in good shape. Then there's the AFC South. Maybe one of those teams will finally decide that they want to be a part of the playoffs and win some games. Someone has to win that division. The 3-10 Tennessee Titans can still tie for the division title. There's a three team battle for two of the final three playoff spots between the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, and Kansas City Chiefs. The surging Chiefs currently have a conference record advantage over the Steelers and Jets. As in the NFC, there are some 6-7 AFC teams that are clinging to playoff hopes.
