Just Over Quarter-Pole All-Star Team

Here's a Flea Flicker look at some of the top players through five games. Four games for some of the teams.

Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
It's scary that Rodgers seems to get better each year. He had a down game, for him, on Sunday but he's been great. It looks like he's improved his footwork in the pocket.

Running back
Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
He's back

Fullback
Patrick DiMarco, Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons offense is attacking defenses. DiMarco is a big part of that.

Receivers
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
Larry Fitzgerald might be the only receiver challenging these two for the best in the league so far this season.

Tight end
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Tyler Eifert is playing great for the Bengals but Gronkowski is not only the best tight end in the game he's one of the best players.

Offensive line
Atlanta Falcons
I'm going with the entire Falcons line. The Cowboys might have the most talented line but the Falcons big guys are playing the best as a unit.

Kicker
Brandon McManus, Denver Broncos

Defensive ends
J.J. Watt, Houston Texans
Ezekial Ansah, Detroit Lions
Watt's the best. Ansah's play might be the only bright spot for the Lions. He wrecked the Seahawks offense last week.

Defensive tackles
Aaron Donald, St. Louis Rams
Geno Atkins, Cincinnati Bengals
Donald is only five games into his second season and he's already one of the most disruptive defensive players in the league. Atkins is definitely back.

Linebackers
Anthony Barr, Minnesota Vikings
Sean Lee, Dallas Cowboys
DeMarcus Ware, Denver Broncos
Barr is quickly becoming a real force on the Vikings defense. When healthy, Lee rivals Luke Kuechly as the best middle linebacker in the league. He's been mostly healthy this year. The Broncos pass rush is dynamite and Ware is a big reason for that. It's either Ware or Von Miller here. Besides, a Broncos defensive player has to be on this team.

Cornerbacks
Darrelle Revis, New York Jets
Josh Norman, Carolina Panthers
Revis has regained the title as best corner. Norman has been fantastic all season.

Safety
Harrison Smith, Minnesota Vikings
Tyrann Mathieu, Arizona Cardinals
Smith has been the best safety so far this season. From the offensive backfield to the back end of the defense he's making plays all over the field. Every time that I catch a Cardinals games it looks like there are far more Mathieus running around the field than are legal.

Punter
Jeff Locke, Minnesota Vikings
This really goes to the entire Vikings punt coverage unit. The Vikings have allowed a ridiculous four yards on punt returns. That's a single punt return yard each game. Locke is a big part of that. He has zero touchbacks and 9 of his 16 punts have been downed inside the 20.
