Team Worth

Forbes recently released it's 2017 valuation of the 32 teams in the NFL. Despite recent scrutiny and criticism of the NFL everyone with a stake in a team is still making money. Here's each franchise's value and their increase in value.

  1. Dallas Cowboys $4.8 billion (up 14 percent)
  2. New England Patriots $3.7 billion (up 9 percent)
  3. New York Giants $3.3 billion (up 6 percent)
  4. Washington Redskins $3.1 billion (up 5 percent)
  5. San Francisco 49ers $3.05 billion (up 2 percent)
  6. Los Angeles Rams $3 billion (up 3 percent)
  7. Chicago Bears $2.85 billion (up 6 percent)
  8. Houston Texans $2.8 billion (up 8 percent)
  9. New York Jets $2.75 billion (no change)
  10. Philadelphia Eagles $2.65 billion (up 6 percent)
  11. Denver Broncos $2.6 billion (up 8 percent)
  12. Miami Dolphins $2.575 billion (up 8 percent)
  13. Green Bay Packers $2.55 billion (up 9 percent)
  14. Baltimore Ravens $2.5 billion (up 9 percent)
  15. Atlanta Falcons $2.475 billion (up 16 percent)
  16. Pittsburgh Steelers $2.45 billion (up 9 percent)
  17. Seattle Seahawks $2.425 billion (up 9 percent)
  18. Minnesota Vikings $2.4 billion (up 9 percent)
  19. Oakland Raiders $2.38 billion (up 13 percent)
  20. Indianapolis Colts $2.375 billion (up 9 percent)
  21. Carolina Panthers $2.3 billion (up 11 percent)
  22. Los Angeles Chargers $2.275 billion (up 9 percent)
  23. Arizona Cardinals $2.15 billion (up 6 percent)
  24. Kansas City Chiefs $2.1billion (up 12 percent)
  25. Jacksonville Jaguars $2.075 billion (up 6 percent)
  26. Tennessee Titans $2.05 billion (up 2 percent)
  27. New Orleans Saints $2 billion (up 14 percent)
  28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers $1.975 billion (up 10 percent)
  29. Cleveland Browns $1.95 billion (up 5 percent)
  30. Cincinnati Bengals $1.8 billion (up 7 percent)
  31. Detroit Lions $1.7 billion (up 3 percent)
  32. Buffalo Bills $1.6 billion (up 8 percent)

The New York Jets are the only team that didn't see an increase. They held steady.

Build a stadium. Boost a team's value. The Minnesota Vikings used to bounce around the bottom 4-5 teams on these lists. They and the public built a stadium and the team's worth shot to the middle of the pack. The  Atlanta Falcons opened a new stadium and saw the league's largest increase.

The Wilf family purchased the Vikings for $600 million in 2005. The team is now valued at $2.4 billion. That's a nice little investment.

From my perch the Vikings are priceless.
