The pandemic years impacted college eligibility. The new NIL deals have changed college football and perhaps slowed the race to the NFL. For those reasons, and perhaps something cyclical, there has been a steady decline in the number of early entrants since 2022. There was a time when about 100 players leaving college early was routine.
2018: 106
2019: 103
2020: 99
2021: 98
2022: 73
2023: 69
2024: 54
While the top prospects of the 58 players are among the top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, a few are taking a serious gamble in leaving college early. Best of luck to all of the early entrants.
