The San Francisco 49ers honored recent Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Charles Haley on Monday night. In addition to receiving his Hall of Fame ring he was inducted into the 49ers Hall of Fame. It was a dual honor. It was a big night for a player that has waited a long time for this much deserved recognition. He received a big, shiny ring, and a fantastic red jacket. I wonder if the Dallas Cowboys are going to give him a beautiful jacket to go with the gold and red that he now owns. That would be quite the wardrobe. While the 49ers were at it they also brought back Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Dave Wilcox, and Jimmy Johnson. Each of those team legends were presented with a Hall of Fame achievement ring by Hall president David Baker. I thought that it was a little odd that the 49ers decided combine Haley's big night with this ring presentation. Maybe it had something to do with Baker's busy schedule? Anyway, Montana and Rice were each announced as the best of all time at their respective positions. That got me thinking that it was about time for another Flea Flicker All-Time team. Anytime is a great time to ponder the great history of football. So, here it is. Another NFL All-Time Team.

I think that Jerry Rice and Lawrence Taylor are the only automatics on any all-time. Jim Brown is close but running back is so subjective. Some might prefer the more dazzling running style of Gale Sayers or Barry Sanders to the physical, overpowering running of Brown. Except for Rice and Taylor, the positions are so wide open. So many players deserving of consideration as the best there ever was. That's why it's easy to make so damn many of these teams.
