For absolutely no reason at all here's an all-star team based on performances in the first week of the NFL season.
Quarterback
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
He was great in the opener and most of it was without Dez Bryant. He's going to have to get used to that.
Running backs
Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers
He repeatedly gashed the Vikings defense.
Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
He was terrific in the run and pass game.
Receivers
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
141 yards. 2 touchdowns. He was great.
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
I thought that Malcolm Butler and the rest of the Patriots actually did a decent job of defending Brown. He still caught nine passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Tight end
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Travis Kelce had a great week but Gronkowski was a beast against the Steelers.
Offensive line
San Francisco 49ers
I'm going with the entire 49ers offensive front. They got away with a few holds but most lines do. Carlos Hyde had so much room to run. Colin Kaepernick had time to throw. The Titans line was great as well in rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota's debut.
Kicker
Brandon McManus, Denver Broncos
A few kickers equaled the four field goals kicked by McManus but he had a couple over 50 yards.
Defensive ends
J.J. Watt, Houston Texans
A great game by any other end is an average game by Watt. His first game of 2015 was better than average. Even for him.
Robert Quinn, St. Louis Rams
Another 2 sack game.
Defensive tackles
Aaron Donald, St. Louis Rams
This is guy is hard to stop. It's hard to believe that he's only one game into his second season.
Tyrone Crawford, DT
He garnered some attention last year. He should get a lot more this year.
Linebackers
Anthony Barr, Minnesota Vikings
He was the only Vikings player that showed up Monday night.
NaVorro Bowman, San Francisco 49ers
Welcome back to the NFL Mr. Bowman.
Julius Peppers, Green Bay Packers
Will this guy ever slow down?
Cornerbacks
Lamarcus Joyner, St. Louis Rams
7 tackles and a sack. For a corner.
Aqib Talib, Denver Broncos
The Broncos probably lose to the Ravens without Talib's pick-6.
Safeties
Tyrann Mathieu, Arizona Cardinals
It felt like there about a half dozen little Mathieus running around the field.
Glover Quin, Detroit Lions
He's quietly becoming one of the best safeties in the league.
Punter
Brad Wing, New York Giants
Three of his four punts left the Cowboys inside the 20-yard line. -3 return yards. That's great stuff.
