After eight games it's time to take a look at the Minnesota Vikings roster. A lot has changed since September. Injuries have changed things.
Quarterbacks
8 Sam Bradford
13 Shaun Hill
6 Taylor Heinicke
The Vikings expected to head into the season with Teddy Bridgewater, Hill, and Joel Stave as the quarterbacks. Those plans changed when Bridgewater's knee exploded.
Running backs
21 Jerick McKinnon
44 Matt Asiata
33 Ronnie Hillman
48 Zach Line-FB
Another position that's changed due to an injury. Adrian Peterson has been out since the third quarter of the second game. He expects to return in December. That would be a nice boost.
Receivers
14 Stefon Diggs
12 Charles Johnson
19 Adam Thielen
84 Cordarrelle Patterson
11 Laquon Treadwell
17 Jarius Wright
No changes at receiver. Despite starting, Johnson hasn't done much. Thielen and Patterson have joined Diggs as the go-to receivers of the offense. Hopefully, rookie Treadwell step into that group in the coming weeks. He had his first NFL reception last week!
Tight ends
82 Kyle Rudolph
85 Rhett Ellison
89 David Morgan
Injuries have forced the Vikings to mix and match tight ends in a couple of games. A struggling offensive line has also forced the team to enlist the tight ends to help protect Sam Bradford more than they probably like.
Offensive line
72 Jake Long
76 Alex Boone
61 Joe Berger
63 Brandon Fusco
68 T.J. Clemmings
78 Jeremiah Sirles
67 Zac Kerin
62 Nick Easton
64 Willie Beavers
Injuries have shaken up the offensive line more than any other position. Even quarterback. And the line wasn't playing all that great before injuries tore it apart. The revamped line's best game was it's last one. That's a promising sign.
Defensive line
97 Everson Griffen
98 Linval Joseph
93 Shamar Stephen
96 Brian Robison
99 Danielle Hunter
92 Tom Johnson
94 Justin Trattou
73 Sharrif Floyd
Floyd hasn't played since the first game of the season. He had a clean-up surgery on his knee at the end of September. It sure would be nice to seen him on the field again.
Linebackers
55 Anthony Barr
54 Eric Kendricks
52 Chad Greenway
59 Emmanuel Lamur
57 Audie Cole
51 Edmond Robinson
40 Kentrell Brothers
Outside of Kemdricks missing the last game to a concussion injuries haven't really hit the linebackers. Hopefully that stays the same. Barr has missed a few games in each of his first two seasons.
Cornerbacks
29 Xavier Rhodes
23 Terence Newman
24 Captain Munnerlyn
26 Trae Waynes
20 Mackensie Alexander
35 Marcus Sherels
Rhodes missed the first two games of the season. Munnerlyn and Sherels are currently nursing injuries.
Safeties
22 Harrison Smith
34 Andrew Sendejo
27 Jayron Kearse
41 Anthony Harris
Other than Sendejo missing a game the safety position has been consistent.
Kicker
3 Blair Walsh
Most Vikings fans dream of a change at kicker.
Punter
18 Jeff Locke
Locke is having his best season.
Long Snapper
47 Kevin McDermott
Practice Squad
95 Sterling Bailey-DE
81 Moritz Boehringer-WR
15 Isaac Fruechte-WR
30 C.J. Ham-RB
90 Toby Johnson-DT
83 MyCole Pruitt-TE
36 Tre Roberson-CB
74 Austin Shepherd-T
31 Cedric Thompson-S
91 Stephen Weatherly-DE
This changes weekly. Some weeks more often than that.
Injured Reserve
5 Teddy Bridgewater-QB
95 Scott Crichton-DT
90 B.J. DuBose-DE
32 Antone Exum Jr.-S
75 Matt Kalil-T
28 Adrian Peterson-RB
25 Jabari Price-CB
71 Andre Smith-T
Reserve/Non-Football Injury
79 Mike Harris-G
There's the Minnesota Vikings roster at the midpoint of the 2016 NFL Season.
