Improving the offensive line was clearly Priority #1. Improving the defensive line was also prioritized. The Vikings targeted Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave in free agency. Both are huge additions to a group that was a strength against the run but didn’t provide much pass rush. Allen and Hargrave should change that. Allen, Hargrave, and Harrison Phillips will form a terrific front three. Youngsters Jalen Redmond, Taki Taimani, and Levi Drake-Rodriguez have potential and provide intriguing depth. Redmond, in particular, emerged late last season as an impact player. To that group, the Vikings added Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Defenisve coordinator Brian Flores and defensive line coach Marcus Dixon will form a role for the raw but supremely talented Ingram-Dawkins. The top seven players in this group feel straightforward. I can’t eliminate any of them. It’ll be interesting to see if the Vikings decision-makers can. The cutdown to 53 players will have many tough decisions. If the defensive line group has to be reduced to six, that decision might be the most difficult.
