After the 2025 NFL Draft and a flurry of undrafted free agent signings, the Minnesota Vikings had 89 players on the roster. Last weekend, the team held their rookie minicamp. Several unsigned players were there on a tryout basis. The Vikings signed two of those players to the roster.
Matt Harmon, OLB, Kent State
Elijah Williams, DT, Morgan State
Matt Harmon managed to complete seven years of college football at Kent State. At 6’6” and 240lbs, he brings some intriguing size. For seven seasons, his statistics are modest. He had only two sacks last season but those sacks came against Tennessee and Penn State. In terms of statistics, Elijah Williams accumulated a lot of them at Morgan State. He was so productive that it’s stunning that he wasn’t drafted or signed as an undrafted free agent. In 42 games, Williams had 31 sacks, 52 tackles for loss, three passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. In his final college season, he had 11 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. His dominant defensive tackle play earned a MEAC Defensive Player of the Year award. His excellent play over four seasons goes to show that the HBCUs are still poorly scouted. Williams has his shot and he’s a player I’ve circled as one to watch throughout training camp. The Vikings have an interesting group of defensive linemen.
The signing of Matt Harmon and Elijah Williams bring the Vikings roster to 91 players. Australian punter Oscar Chapman has an international roster exemption.
