Minnesota Vikings Roster: The Offensive Line

The run through the Minnesota Vikings roster continues. Next up: The Offensive Line.

The Vikings offensive line has been a problem for about a decade. Over the past few years, the team’s previous decision-makers spent high-end draft picks to hopefully solve the problem. Some of those picks appear to paying off. Just in time for the team’s new decision-makers to hopefully benefit.

Minnesota Vikings Roster: The Offensive Line

Christian Darrisaw
Ezra Cleveland
Garrett Bradbury
Ed Ingram
Brian O’Neill
Oli Udoh
Blake Brandel
Vederian Lowe
Timon Parris
Jesse Davis
Chris Reed
Wyatt Davis
Kyle Hinton
Austin Schlottman
Josh Sokol

To the frustration of most Vikings fans, JC Tretter was not added in the offseason. Those fans want Garrett Bradbury booted off the roster and out of the building. Despite those fan’s wishes, Bradbury will be the Vikings starting center this season. All positions other than right guard are set.

Top Competition:
The top competition on the Vikings offensive line is right guard. The top competition on the entire Vikings roster is right guard. 2022 second-round pick Ed Ingram, free agent additions Jesse Davis and Chris Reed, and 2021 third-round pick Wyatt Davis are the contenders. In reality, it appears that Davis would have to come from deep in the pack to be part of the competition. I have Ingram as the team’s starting right guard when the season starts. I have Ingram as the starting right guard because this team’s decision-makers picked him in the second round of their first draft. He’s also the most talented of the contenders. If the rookie’s ready, I believe that he’ll be the starter.

Could surprise:
Garrett Bradbury. Most have already written off the former first round pick. The Vikings need him to surprise. Kirk Cousins needs him to surprise. Dalvin Cook needs him to surprise. Everyone with an interest in the Vikings needs him to surprise. The fifth-year option on Bradbury’s rookie contract was not picked up. This is his contract year. He’s playing for his future in Minnesota.

I currently have the Vikings keeping nine offensive linemen on the 53-man roster:

Christian Darrisaw
Ezra Cleveland
Garrett Bradbury
Ed Ingram
Brian O’Neill
Vederian Lowe
Jesse Davis
Chris Reed
Wyatt Davis

I struggled with the Oli Udo/Vederian Lowe swing tackle decision. I have Lowe taking it simply because the team’s decision-makers picked him. They inherited Udoh. I’m so glad that the real decisions aren’t mine to make.
