Minnesota Vikings Unofficial Depth Chart

In advance of their Saturday preseason game against the Denver Broncos, the Minnesota Vikings released an unofficial depth chart. I'm not sure why it's deemed unofficial. A depth chart released by the team seems pretty official to me. No matter what the team calls this depth chart it's interesting to see how the coaches see the plays through two weeks of training camp.

***

There aren't many surprises.

Perhaps seeing Marcus Sherels ahead of Holton Hill at right cornerback is something of a surprise. Hill has been one of the most talked about players through the first two weeks of camp.

Special teams coordinator Mike Priefer has said on several occasions since the spring that the kicking competition between veteran Kai Forbath and rookie Daniel Carlson is a close one. This "unofficial" depth chart shows that.

It's interesting to see Ifaedi Odenigbo listed as a defensive tackle. He was drafted out of Northwestern as a defensive end and spent his rookie season last season on the practice squad at the position. Head coach Mike Zimmer mentioned that Odenigbo had been working at tackle so it's hardly surprising to see him listed there. I was just curious if it was more experiment than permanent. It's also interesting to see him listed above fourth round rookie Jalyn Holmes.
