College Football Top 20

The recent issue of Sports Illustrated was the college football preview issue. The issue had nice articles on Clemson's loaded defensive line, Wisconsin's terrific offensive line, Houston offense-wrecker Ed Oliver, and Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate. It also had their preseason Top-20.

1.   Clemson
2.   Alabama
3.   Wisconsin
4.   Washington
5.   Oklahoma
6.   Georgia
7.   Penn State
8.   Auburn
9.   Ohio State
10. West Virginia
11. Michigan State
12. Stanford
13. Miami
14. TCU
15. Michigan
16. Notre Dame
17. Central Florida
18. Florida State
19. Arizona
20. Houston

The top of SI's Top-20 looks a little familiar. This got me thinking about how I see the college teams before they've done anything.

1.   Washington
2.   Alabama
3.   Georgia
4.   Clemson
5.   Wisconsin
6.   West Virginia
7.   Ohio State
8.   Michigan
9.   Auburn
10. Penn State
11. TCU
12. Michigan State
13. Miami
14. Oklahoma
15. Central Florida
16. Oregon
17. Florida State
18. Nebraska
19. Cal
20. Stanford

It's about time for a Pac-12 team to take the national title. Washington has been on the cusp of joining the elites for a couple years. Perhaps this is their year. As for Cal, #19 is optimistic but 2nd-year head coach Justin Wilcox has the team headed in the right direction. They could surprise. As for Stanford, they're just lucky that they have a seat at this Top-20. Go Bears!
