NFC Wild Card Picks

The NFC is up in the NFL's strangely segregated Wild Card Playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks @ Minnesota Vikings
Pick: Vikings
Gotta pick the Vikings. The Seahawks are favored and damn near everyone is picking them. And rightfully so. Everything says that the Seahawks take this game. From their beatdown of the Vikings a month ago to their recent playoff successes. Everything screams Seahawks in this game. But, the Vikings do have the talent to win this game. It's very young talent but it's serious football talent. The Vikings, truthfully, are probably a year away from seriously challenging for the Super Bowl. And sometimes it takes a playoff loss to point a talented football team in the right direction for future glory. I'm sure that it's the homer fan in me but the Vikings do have the defensive talent to slow Russell Wilson and the Seahawks offense. They also have the offensive talent to score enough points to win. If Teddy Bridgewater throws no more idiotic, left-handed passes. The Vikings have to protect Bridgewater. Last week's loss of tight end Rhett Ellison to a torn patellar tendon was a big loss.

Green Bay Packers @ Washington Redskins
Pick: Packers
The Packers are in a serious funk. Nothing that they do looks right but Aaron Rodgers is too great of a quarterback for it to continue. Right? The Redskins are probably the surprise of the league. They are definitely the surprise team of the NFC. They biggest problem that the Redskins have had this year is winning on the road. They don't have to worry about that in this game. Kirk Cousins has been terrific of late and he has some serious pass-catching weapons. In a win-or-go-home situation I think that something close to the real Aaron Rodgers shows up today.

Here's hoping for some great games. Better than the AFC games.

Go Vikings!

  1. You were right. The Vikes got that playoff loss that may point them in the right direction next year, and the real A-Rod showed up (which was a shock considering how they have played lately).
