Minnesota Vikings Coaches

The Minnesota Vikings entered the 2018 offseason knowing that they were going to have to replace offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. He was off to New York to coach the Giants. The Vikings replaced Shurmur on Thursday with Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. Yesterday, the Vikings denied the Giants the opportunity to hire their quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski to be Shurmur's offensive coordinator. That doesn't seem fair to Stefanski but if all goes well with the Vikings offense in 2018 there's a better than decent chance that he'll be the offensive coordinator next offseason. DeFilippo got some head coach consideration this offseason. He'll get even more next offseason. His stay in Minnesota is expected to be a short one. Stefanski will be an offensive coordinator soon. He'll be able to run his own offense with the Vikings. He'd be answering to Shurmur with the Giants. Stefanski's being kept back in the short run but benefiting in the long run. Hopefully, he sees it that way as well. He seems to like it in Minnesota. He's been there since 2006 working on three coaching staffs and surviving two coaching changes.

There are coaching vacancies around the league. There's even a head coaching vacancy. Nothing is for certain until all those vacancies are filled but barring a presently unforeseen departure/hire the Minnesota Vikings 2018 coaching staff appears to be set.
