Before the 2011 CBA made the signing of draft picks a breeze a majority of the rookie class would still be unsigned about this time of the year. This is the sixth year of the breezy rookie signings and I still can't get over it. The Minnesota Vikings signed all 11 of their picks in a handful of days. They started the process a little later than usual but the Vikings made quick work of the process once they started. That ease is a league-wide thing. Of the 253 players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft only 10 have yet to sign their contracts. Gone are the days when teams still had their entire draft class to sign at the beginning of July.
Then there were 10.
1st
(2)Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears
(3)Solomon Thomas, San Francisco 49ers
(5)Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans
(6)Jamal Adams, New York Jets
(10)Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
(24)Gareon Conley, Oakland Raiders
(25)Jabrill Peppers, Cleveland Browns
2nd
Obi Melifonwu, Oakland Raiders
3rd
Eddie Vanderdoes, Oakland Raiders
Montravius Adams, Green Bay Packers
The Oakland Raiders must be pacing themselves.
The CBA may not be a perfect thing but getting rid of the headaches of rookie holdouts and the outrageous contracts for players that had yet to do a thing in the NFL was a wonderful move.
