NFL's Most Explosive Player

With the 4th of July in mind some of the NFL.com folks took part in an instant debate on the NFL's Most Explosive Player. Here are their picks and some of their thoughts.

Marc Sessler
Writer/NFL.com
Pick: Odell Beckham Jr.
Some of Sessler's thoughts:
At full health, he's the most dominating playmaker at his position and a one-man show able to win his matchup against any cover man in the league.

Reggie Wayne
Writer/NFL.com
Pick: Julio Jones
Some of Wayne's thoughts:
The guy's a freak.

Charlie Casserly
Writer/NFL.com
Pick: DeSean Jackson
Some of Casserly's thoughts:
when Jackson wants to put his foot in the ground and take off deep, there is nobody better.

Steve Wyche
Writer/NFL.com
Pick: Bobby Wagner
Some of Wyche's thoughts:
I'm throwing a curveball here...Because of his speed, ability to get off blocks or make blocks and the plays he makes, he's the most explosive player to me.

David Carr
Writer/NFL.com
Pick: Antonio Brown
Some of Carr's thoughts:
Brown's ability to separate is bar none, and that's the definition of explosiveness for me as a former NFL quarterback.

The picks that surprised me were Charlie Casserly's selection of DeSean Jackson and Steve Wyche's selection of Bobby Wagner.
Casserly: out of his mind
Wyche: interesting
It's not so much that Jackson isn't explosive. It's just that he's such an annoyance. As a Cal fan, he thrilled me for three seasons. He was such a fun, unbelievable, and explosive player to watch but he would wipe out all that with his ridiculous and selfish antics. He's easily the most frustrating and annoying football player in my 40+ years of watching Cal football.

Flea Flicker picks:
Biased pick: Adrian Peterson
Until Peterson retires he'll be my pick for most explosive football player. It's really going to suck to see Peterson being explosive in the uniform of the New Orleans Saints. His Vikings time flew too fast. I chuckle every time I hear words of wonder at the ridiculous things that Peterson is doing on the Saints' practice field. Saints players and casual observers all seem surprised. As Reggie Wayne said of Julio Jones, Peterson is a freak! Why would that change. Last season was more a mirage than a start of a decline. If I could give the Saints some advice, even though they open the season against the Vikings, it would be to allow their new back to be hit in practice and to play him in preseason games. The Vikings didn't allow Peterson to be touched before the season started. It just doesn't seem to be smart to have the first hit on a football player to take place in a game that counts. Due to that knee injury the season before, the Vikings took it easy on Peterson throughout the 2012 training camp. He ran for 2097 yards and the Vikings continued the preseason pampering each year since. Peterson has started each season relatively slowly and hasn't looked himself until the third or fourth game. He was injured in the second game last year. Until he retires, Adrian Peterson is my most explosive player.

Unbiased pick: Julio Jones
With respectful and apologetic nods to Von Miller and Khalil Mack.

A couple comments on the NFL.com debaters. All five are listed as Writer/NFL.com. They only one that I consider a Writer/NFL.com is Marc Sessler. The other four I consider NFL Network personalities. I also found it a little funny that David Carr had to remind us of his previous career by throwing in "for me as a former NFL quarterback."
