I was looking at the mock drafts posted on NFL.com. It’s more than just Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks taking swings at potential team picks. There are also mock drafts from Lance Zierlein, Cynthia Frelund, and Chad Reuter. Here are the players that the NFL.com analysts currently have the Minnesota Vikings selecting at #12 in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Daniel Jeremiah:
Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
Cornerback has been and will continue to be a popular pick for the Vikings. I consider the position the team’s biggest need. Many of the draft analysts out there agree. I like Trent McDuffie. I’d be fine with McDuffie. Currently, I like Cincinnati’s Ahmad Gardner, LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr, and perhaps even Clemson’s Andrew Booth Jr. more. Jeremiah has the New York Jets selecting Gardner at #10.
Bucky Brooks:
George Karlaftis, Edge, Purdue
I have edge as the Vikings #2 need behind cornerback. George Karlaftis would be a fine pick. As for other edge rushers, Brooks has Jermaine Johnson and Travon Walker going later in round one. I might prefer both over Karlaftis.
Lance Zierlein:
Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
Another Trent McDuffie pick. Derek Stingley Jr. and Ahmad Gardner were gone by the Vikings pick.
Cynthia Frelund:
Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU
Cynthia Frelund incorporates algorithms that would keep other draft analysts up at night and only confuse them more than they already are. Frelund’s numbers have the Vikings selecting one of the best cornerbacks in the draft. If Derek Stingley Jr. can play in the NFL like he did as a freshman at LSU, he’ll be one of the best cornerbacks in the league.
Chad Reuter:
Chad Reuter extends the mock draft fun to three rounds.
1. Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU
2. Damone Clark, LB, LSU
3. Kingsley Enagbare, Edge, South Carolina
If the real draft fell the way that Reuter has it falling, I’d address the same positions but the picks would be different.
1. Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
2. Boye Mafe, Edge, Minnesota
3. Christian Harris, LB, Alabama

With the NFL Scouting Combine wrapping up today, Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks will surely be posting their next mock drafts soon.
