Minnesota Vikings 3-Round Mock Drafts

The Scouting Combine is over half done. The NFL’s legal tampering window is nine days away. Actual free agency kicks off in 11 days. On this Saturday morning, it’s time for a Minnesota Vikings 3-Round Mock Draft. The mock draft simulators make it too damn easy. Too addicting. These are from NFL Draft Network.

Cornerback first:

1. Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
2. Christian Harris, LB, Alabama
3. Arnold Ebiketie, Edge, Penn State

Edge first:

1. David Ojabo, Edge, Michigan
2. Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
3. Drake Jackson, Edge, USC

This one:

1. Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
2. Desmond Ridder, QB, Cincinnati
3. Nik Bonitto, Edge, Oklahoma

Why not? Quarterback first:

1. Kenny Pickett, QB, Pitt
2. Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
3. Nik Bonitto, Edge, Oklahoma

In my opinion, cornerback is the Vikings greatest offseason need. Cameron Dantzler is the only corner currently set to be on the 2022 roster that’s starter quality. And he still has some occasional wobbles in his game. Free agency should change the Vikings cornerback outlook a little. Come draft day, they might still need a couple corners that are capable of contributing immediately.

In terms of Vikings needs, edge is a close second to corner. It’s always one of the two in the first round. When it comes to players that should be available in the second and third rounds, I currently like the edge talent more than the corner talent. That leads me to prefer corner with the Vikings first pick.

One thing that these simulators reveal are favorites. In each round, I find myself repeatedly leaning toward particular players.

First round: It’s always Ahmad Gardner or David Ojabo. If both are gone, it’s Clemson corner Andrew Booth Jr.

Second round: It’s all over the place. Quarterback is often in the background. If Desmond Ridder is available in the second in the real draft, I might pull the trigger. Let Kirk Cousins play out his giant 2022 contract and have Ridder and Kellen Mond compete in 2023.

Third round: I’m frequently drawn toward Nik Bonitto.

Have a wonderful weekend.
