NFL.com has a lost of draft content right now. That's really no surprise. It will only increase as we creep closer to the 2015 NFL Draft on April 30. The CFB 24/7:Path to the Draft portion of the site has a column with rumors connecting college players to NFL teams. It has some interesting stuff. Here's what they have for the Minnesota Vikings:
Mock Drafts:
Brian Baldinger: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Bucky Brooks: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
Charley Casserly: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
Charles Davis: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
Daniel Jeremiah: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
Lance Zierlein: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington
I like the Waynes pick of Brooks and Casserly best but I wouldn't mind Cooper or Parker. I really don't understand the thinking of Zierlein.
As it stands now, I would be quite pleased with the Vikings selecting any of the following at pick #11:
Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Landon Collins, S, Alabama
Vic Beasley, DE/LB, Clemson
Randy Gregory, DE/LB, Nebraska
Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa
That's a big list but a few of those players won't be available at #11. It just shows that the Vikings will have a shot at a very talented football player. Or at least one that I like.
The rumor column goes on to list prospects that have been associated with each team. Here's the prospects that have been linked to the Vikings in some fashion:
Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise St.-interviewed during Pro Day
T.J. Clemmings, T, Pittsburgh-private workout
Christian Covington, DT, Rice-DL coach attended Pro Day
Ronald Darby, CB. Florida St.-has visit scheduled
Paul Dawson, LB, TCU-has visit scheduled
Xzavier Dickson, LB, Alabama-DC put him through Pro Day drills
Kyle Emanuel, LB, North Dakota St.-will work out Emanuel
Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri-has visit scheduled
Randy Gregory, DE/LB, Nebraska-DC put him Pro Day drills
Marvin Hardison, DE, Arizona St.-coach put him through Pro Day workout
Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest-DB coach at Pro Day
DeVante Parker-Parker-Bridgewater reunion would be intriguing
Marcus Peters, CB, Washington-has visit scheduled
Edmond Robinson, LB, Newberry-LB coach at Newberry's Pro Day
Cedric Thompson, S, Minnesota-has visit scheduled
Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington-has visit scheduled
Lynden Trail, DE, Norfolk St.-has visit scheduled
Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.-has visit scheduled
Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota-coaching staff watched Pro Day
Waynes and Dawson would be a great 1-2 start to the draft. I really like the attention directed at small school standouts Lynden Trail, Kyle Emanuel, and Edmond Robinson. Trail is a very intriguing, versatile athlete. He's played on the line, at linebacker, and a little bit of tight end. He's also 6'7" and 270 lbs.
I think that the connection to DeVante Parker through Teddy Bridgewater is a little forced.
NFL.com has this sort of stuff for each of the 32 teams. Minus my comments.
