The Minnesota Vikings have seven picks in the 2015 NFL Draft. One in each of the rounds 1-5. None in round 6. Two in round 7. Trading Matt Cassel to the Buffalo Bills and acquiring Mike Wallace from the Miami Dolphins fouled up their picks in the final three rounds. Here's one possible look at a possible a scenario as to how the Vikings might use those seven picks:
1. Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
2. Eric Kendricks, MLB, UCLA
3. Ali Marpet, G, Hobart
4. Dezmin Lewis, WR, Central Arkansas
5. Lynden Trail, DE, Norfolk St.
7. Zach Zenner, RB, North Dakota St.
7. Cedric Thompson, S, Minnesota
There's about zero chance that the Vikings seven picks look anything like this. It's tough enough to guess the Vikings first pick let alone all seven. But it's fun. It's fun to take wild guesses at what a team might do on draft day. It's far more fun than rehashing the same old football soap operas that many in the media keep beating to death.
The Vikings have started scheduling pre-draft visits with prospects. They are allowed 30 and 7 have been announced/leaked, so far.
Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington
Paul Dawson, LB, TCU
Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri/Oklahoma
Marcus Hardison, DE, Arizona St.
Damarious Randall, S, Arizona St.
Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise St.
Looking at these visits, the Vikings first three picks might look something like this:
1. Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan St.
2. Paul Dawson, S, TCU
3. Damarious Randall, S, Arizona St.
That seems a little heavy on defense but the announced visits have been heavy on defense, so far. Who knows? Right now, anything is possible. It's fun to guess and I, for whatever reason, make these guesses often. I'll probably have another tomorrow. Or in an hour. Maybe I'll share it but I probably won't.
