The Minnesota Vikings were rolled by the Green Bay Packers in Week 17. The Vikings had to win the game to stay in the playoff race. The game was probably decided on Friday when Kirk Cousins inevitably found his way to the COVID list. The Sean Mannion-led offense did nothing and the depleted defense was on the field too much. Were there Vikings superlatives in a 37-10 pasting? Not really. But here’s a stab at some.
Offensive Player of Week
Garrett Bradbury.
The Vikings offense was so pathetic that the play of the game was made by the center. Garrett Bradbury made a shoe-top catch of a deflected pass and rumbled 21 yards. It was the lone offensive highlight and set up the lone offensive touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Game
The Vikings defense was actually kinda feisty for a little over a quarter. They held the Packers offense to two field goals on their first four possessions. Three of those possessions ended in the red zone. Perhaps the overwhelming amount of time spent on the field started to zap the defense of their feisty play. The game was essentially over by half time.
Harrison Smith
Watching Harrison Smith’s pre-snap movement was fun.
Special Teams Player of the Game
Greg Joseph for kicking a 51-yard field goal on a frigid Green Bay night.
