Minnesota Vikings Roster

The Minnesota Vikings have continued with the usual regular season roster tweaks. As they often do, injuries have influenced most of the roster tweaks in recent weeks. Guard Brett Jones was placed on injured reserve with a torn MCL. Versatile offensive lineman Aviante Collins was promoted to replace Jones on the active roster. Jones was designated for a possible return but with only a month to go in the season it's a tight turnaround. Ironically, it was a preseason torn MCL that possibly kept Collins off of the active roster to start the season. Josh Doctson was signed just prior to the start of the season to add some veteran depth at receiver. He injured his hamstring within his first week in Minnesota and was placed on IR. He returned to the active roster a couple weeks ago, played a handful of snaps against the Denver Broncos, and was released this past week. His release coincided with the return to health of Adam Thielen. Unfortunately, Thielen isn't as healthy as the team might have hoped. He's out for tonight's game against the Seattle Seahawks. That leaves the Vikings with three receivers tonight and four moving forward. May Thielen's hamstring be and stay strong and nothing happen to Stefon Diggs. The team needs both on the field. Other roster tweaks include the yo-yo roster treatment of rookie linebacker Cameron Smith. He's spent the season bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and active roster. He's currently on the active roster side of that back and forth. Rookie reciever Davion Davis has experienced the same roster treatment as Smith. Davis is currently on the practice squad side of it. Rookie fullback Khari Blasingame was impressive in preseason. So much so that the Vikings stashed him on the practice squad. He apparently impressed the Tennessee Titans as well as they stole him off of the practice squad. The Vikings brought back fullback Johnny Stanton to replace Blasingame on the practice squad. Other than those tweaks the roster of the Minnesota Vikings hasn't changed all that much. Here it is in advance of tonight's game against the Seahawks. It feels like a month since the Vikings have played a game.
