Minnesota Vikings 53-Man Roster

The Minnesota Vikings finalized their 53-man roster yesterday. An NFL roster is a fluid thing. There's a chance that this could change before this holiday weekend is even done.

Dalvin Cook
C.J. Ham-fullback

Receivers

***

This and that:

There's a 24:26 offense:defense split. The defensive roster whittling was especially difficult.

Eight of the Vikings eleven draft picks made the team:
Dalvin Cook
Pat Elflein
Jaleel Johnson
Ben Gedeon
Rodney Adams
Danny Isidora
Bucky Hodges
Stacy Coley

Three Undrafted Free Agents:
Aviante Collins
Tashawn Bower
Eric Wilson

11 rookies in total.

If the Vikings starting offensive line is as expected...

LT Riley Reiff
LG Nick Easton
C Pat Elflein
RG Joe Berger
RT Mike Remmers

...it's a complete overhaul from last year's line. That's a good thing.

Age. Alex Boone was the only truly veteran player released. It still feels like the Vikings have gotten considerably younger. There are five players on the roster age 30 or older. Joe Berger (35), Kai Forbath (30), Tom Johnson (33), Brian Robison (34), and the ageless Terence Newman (38). Newman turns 39 tomorrow. That's crazy for a corner. Sam Bradford, Everson Griffen, Andrew Sendejo, and Marcus Sherels will turn 30 during the season.

Largest player: Linval Joseph, 6'4" 329
Smallest player: Marcus Sherels, 5-10 175

Depending on how you feel about the Pro Bowl, this is the last Sunday without NFL football for the next five months.
