Throwback Thursday: Wednesday NFL Games

The Week 12 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens finally got it’s day yesterday. A Wednesday. The NFL would probably love to have a game every day of the week. I think that would be a nightmare but Roger Goodell and his peeps have always stressed that more is best. That’s especially true when the more in question is money. Wednesday football has been a rare thing for the league over the past eight decades. It wasn’t such a rare thing during the league’s first two decades.

With yesterday’s game making Wednesday football a thing the league will have put a game on every day of the week of the 2020 season. The schedule planned for games on the usual days: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The schedule also provided a Friday game with the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints playing on Christmas Day. COVID has bumped games to Tuesday and Wednesday. Nothing is guaranteed during these hacked-up times but it looks like the NFL will hit it’s dream of having a game on each day of the week. Congratulation Roger.
