Some Football Thoughts

Here are some of my football thoughts as the NFL motors into the fourth week of the season.

1. It doesn't seem right that the Tennessee Titans experience a COVID outbreak and it's the Minnesota Vikings that have to play on an abbreviated and altered work week. The Titans get to make up their Week 4 game with the Pittsburgh Steelers when they're better prepared for it. The Vikings play the Houston Texans as scheduled. There were no guarantees this season and it was a certainty that some teams will be more impacted than others.

2. I'm sure that the Vikings are happy to be playing on a messed-up week without any COVID hits than the situation in which the Titans find themselves.

3. Here's hoping that the Vikings continue to have no positive tests.

4. One game is too small of a sample size to pull any firm conclusions. It's still interesting that the Vikings could play a football game against a team with some infected players and not see any transmission of the virus from the dirty team to the clean team. So far. Again, here's hoping that the Vikings see no positive tests.

5. Enough COVID shit.

6. I laughed a little when I saw that Los Angeles Rams terror Aaron Donald belly-aching about seeing a lot of double teams. Unfortunately that's what happens when a player is so damn good.

7. 0-3 sucks.

8. Dalvin Cook rushed for 181 yards against the Titans. Justin Jefferson had 175 receiving yards against the Titans. Each had a long-distance touchdown. How does a team have a 181-yard rusher and a 175-yard receiver and lose the game? The Vikings were the first team in league history to do so. It's been that sort of season.

9. The Vikings need to go on a winning streak in advance of their Week 7 bye. That winning streak would have to include defeats of the Texans, the Seahawks, and the Falcons. 3-3 at the bye would be nice.

10. Patrick Mahomes is ridiculous. Everything that he does looks too damn easy. Playing quarterback in the NFL is not easy at all.

11. Gregg Williams should not have a job coaching football. At any level.
