AP All-America Team

Happy Boxing Day!

The Associated Press has been selecting it's All-America football team since 1925. They announced their 2016 team a few weeks ago. I'm just looking at it now. I've been busy trying to get the Minnesota Vikings into the playoffs. It didn't work.

***
There may be no better football name in college football than that of Air Force safety Weston Steelhammer.

Also, I can't wait to see how Mississippi kicker Gary Wunderlich does on the NFL's silly Wonderlic test. When and if he ever has to take it at the Scouting Combine.

As a Vikings fan, I'm especially curious about the draft intentions and upcoming hip surgery of Wisconsin tackle Ryan Ramczyk. There's a lot to like about Wisconsin linemen. Ohio State center Pat Elflein would look good in Vikings purple as well. Actually, I'm curious about every All-America offensive lineman as well as every offensive lineman in the draft. The Vikings need a bunch of them. A bunch of good ones. Effective six years ago.

There are some tremendous underclassmen on the 2016 AP All-America team. Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver (a freshman!) looks like he's ready for the NFL now. Ohio State safety Malik Hooker and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley are only sophomores. And there's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson. He's a sophomore too. They, and several others, should be fun to watch in however many years that they have left in college football.
