The NFL has long been a year-long process. The new season begins seconds after the confetti falls at the Super Bowl. And, that's just for the two teams playing in the game. For the other 30 teams, the new season had already started. There is no offseason in the NFL. The only thing different between now and a few years ago is that the league is televising most of the offseason. The draft has done a television staple for decades. The combine and individual Pro Days are now televised. Pretty soon the NFL is going to televise a grand signing day to kick off the madness of free agency. I'll bet that NFL Network will soon have cameras in the extravagant rooms that hold the owners meeting. Until then, the big events of the offseason are still free agency and the event.
